What is a poem token?
 
A poem token is a unit of the NFP gift economy that depends on the honor system and, like NFTs, depends entirely on a made-up form of ownership. 

In more poetic terms, a poem token is a gift to you, poetry that someone made for you to receive, take delight in, and keep.
  
In more practical terms, a poem token is a poem that doesn’t exist anywhere else--the author of each poem token gives over to the recipient the right to keep, share, or disseminate the poem token. The poem token can be text-based, sound-based, art-based, video-based, anything-based, anything.
 
 
I want a poem token!
 
If you would like to receive a poem that was written by someone else, that belongs only to you, then all you have to do is submit your own self-authored poem token, which will then be distributed to another individual through NFP.

How many poem tokens can I get?
 
For every self-authored poem token that you submit, you will receive a poem token authored by someone else for you to own. You can hypothetically do this as many times as you want.


Is there any money involved?

Oh no, no. We hate money and any kind of currency. 
 

Can I share the poem token that I receive from NFP?
 
Yes, of course!

Though if your poem token was non-anonymous, please be a good person and make sure to include the poem token author's name when posting or sharing the poem with anyone(s). 
 

How do I ruin the spirit of NFP?
 
There are several ways to go about that!
 
NFP does not accept or disseminate writing that is plagiarized, sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, or xenophobic. If you submit hateful writing, you will be shadow-banned from NFP (i.e. NFP will ignore you and continue to ignore you until the end of time). 
 
If you share your poem token inappropriately, either by misattribution or attempting to use the received poem token for personal gain, then the entire NFP project will end immediately.
 
If you steal someone else’s work to submit as a poem token, or submit a bunch of AI-generated garbage or human-generated spam that no one would consider a “gift” to receive, then the entire NFP project will end immediately, and all hope in the inherent goodness and ethical potential of human beings will be lost.
